George Lopez

George Lopez was born on April 23, 1961 in Mission Hills, California. To say that George Lopez had a great childhood would be lying. At the age of two, George's father left him and his mother. Then, when George was around 10, his grandmother, Benita Gutierrez, began to raise him, as his mother abandoned him to be with her new husband. While George was growing up, his mother always told him that his father had died when he (George) was two, and did not leave the family. Later in life, George's mother revealed the truth that his father had in fact not died, but that he abandoned the family. George's rough childhood was and still is, the inspiration and butt of most of his jokes. It is what shaped his life as a comedian.
George's first jobs were doing stand-up comedy. At first, he wasn't the best. After working at various other jobs, George realized that comedy is what he wanted to do, so he returned to stand-up and became very good at it. He appeared in some minor films, but his most famous piece of work, was his involvement in his own television show, "George Lopez." Lopez was an actor in the show, and helped to create it. "George Lopez" ran from 2002-2007. Since then, Lopez created "Lopez Tonight" and did a voice over in the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Lopez married Ann Serrano in 1993. They had one daughter, Mayan Lopez, in 1995. However, they share more than just a daughter. George Lopez received a kidney transplant from his wife, Ann, in 2005. On June 1, 2011, Lopez and Serrano divorced. Considering where Lopez came from, I consider him to be an amazing actor and comedian. His childhood was rough, but instead of feeling sorry for himself, he used his hardships to make other people laugh. "George Lopez" is one of my favorite shows. George is extremely funny, and along with his mom, Bennie, and wife, Angie, the show is great. Watch TBS to catch re-runs of this awesome show!
